I moved from New York City to Minneapolis to work on the the public radio company American Public Media. While most of my friends have moved to Africa and Asia, this blog was about the day-to-day culture shock of moving to the Midwest (“oh no I didn’t buy a snow brush!”, for example). But then after a year and a half of that I moved back to NY! Not for lack of loving Minneapolis, which is awesome and you should all go visit.
Initially my blog was also going to be to explore Hinduism, which I would have been doing in my Minneapolis job, as a 2nd generation North American. For example, I cited a frustration I’ve had: the classic practice of coming up with English words to describe Indian concepts (“an idly is a rice cake!”) which inevitably causes more confusion and much less clarity.
But now the blog has just become a series of posts: sometimes from the news, sometimes from my meditation practice or something a teacher may have said at meditation that I thought was worth sharing, sometimes a new random artsy project I’ve got going on.
